Tommy Bahama customers in Fort Lauderdale will be able to sip cocktails and eat light fare next year as they shop for beach- and loungewear at a new Las Olas Boulevard location.
The national retailer of men’s and women’s island-themed apparel and accessories has yet to announce the move scheduled for the fall of 2020 to 740 East Las Olas Blvd.
But commercial real estate broker Charlie Ladd of Barron Leasing Co. on Thursday confirmed the impending move after a large sign appeared in the front door window of a new two-story commercial building erected by The Las Olas Co.
Beside moving its store from 1002 East Las Olas, Tommy Bahama will introduce one of its Marlin Bars at the new location. There are four restaurant locations in Florida and 14 others in Arizona, California, Hawaii, New York and Texas, according to a company website.
On the website of the Tommy Bahama store in Estero in southwestern Florida, the Marlin Bar is described as “a relaxed refuge” with “an airy, spacious patio and walk-up bar where you can unwind with a cocktail, enjoy some light fare and catch the breeze.”
“It made sense to go with a significant expansion,” Ladd said of the Las Olas store. “Tommy Bahama is probably the most successful high-profile retailer on Las Olas.”
Ladd, who is assisting Tommy Bahama with the move, said he is interviewing three candidates as potential replacements for the current store. He declined to identify them.
An acting store manager referred a reporter to the company’s Seattle headquarters, which did not respond to a telephone message seeking comment.
