Learn what's required to get your real estate license in Florida

General Requirements

You must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED in order to become licensed in Florida.

Education requirements

  • Successfully complete 63 classroom-hours of pre-licensing courses.

Exam and application requirements

  • Submit a completed application, electronic fingerprints, and the fee.
  • Pass the Florida Real Estate Sales Associate Examination with a grade of at least 75 out of 100 points or pass the Florida Real Estate Law Exam with a grade of at least 30 out of 40 points.
  • Activate your license using the DBPR RE 11-Become Active – Sales Associate or Broker Sales Associate form, OR
  • Have your employing broker activate your new license online using the broker’s online account.

Post-licensing requirements

  • Successfully complete post-licensing course for sales associate consisting of at least 45 classroom-hours, before your initial sales license expires.
    • Even if your license is inactive, you’ll still need to complete the post-licensing course before the license expires. You’ll need at least 45 classroom hours.

Examination Scheduling Information

Please VERIFY that you have registered your LEGAL name as it appears on your government-issued ID and that your personal information is CORRECT. Contact Pearson VUE immediately to correct the spelling of your name or update your personal information if you notice any errors. It is very important that this information is correct, as it will appear as it was entered on the documentation provided to you after you have completed the exam, as well as on any reports to your licensing agency.

Appointments may be made up to one calendar day prior to the day you wish to test, subject to availability. You may schedule your exam online or over the phone by contacting customer service.


Cancellation / Rescheduling policy

To cancel or reschedule a test without any penalty it needs to be done two full calendar days before the test.

Monday – anytime The Friday before – anytime up to midnight on Friday
Tuesday – anytime The Saturday before – anytime up to midnight on Saturday
Wednesday – anytime The Sunday – anytime up to midnight on Sunday
Thursday – anytime The Monday – anytime up to midnight Monday
Friday – anytime The Tuesday – anytime up to midnight Tuesday
Saturday – anytime The Wednesday – anytime up to midnight Wednesday
Sunday – anytime The Thursday – anytime up to midnight Thursday

* Based on a start of week as Sunday.

Candidates can cancel and reschedule using the web (self-service) up to midnight two full calendar days prior to their tests and incur no penalty for late cancellation or reschedule.
